Description	:	Henry C Hamelau Instantly Killed by Northwestern Train Monday Morning The community was greatly shocked Monday morning when the word was passed the terrible tragedy that had occurred east of town when Henry Hamelau, an aged and respected resident of this community had been killed by a train while walking along the track. Read More	Henry C Hamelau Instantly Killed by Northwestern Train Monday Morning The community was greatly shocked Monday morning when the word was passed the terrible tragedy that had occurred east of town when Henry Hamelau, an aged and respected resident of this community had been killed by a train while walking along the track. The accident occurred about three miles east of town, Mr Hamelau having started to walk to the home of his daughter, Mrs Fred Brandt. As he was walking along the track he noticed a train approaching from the east and stepped onto the north track, having failed to see another train coming from the west. Section laborers from this city were witnesses of the accident and immediately brought the body of Mr Hamelau to town. Coroner Boucher was summoned but did not find it necessary to hold an inquest. Mr Hamelau had arrived in State Center on the morning train from the west having been on a visit to his daughter, Mrs Earl Frohwein at Gourie. He had then transacted some business in town and started to walk to the home of his daughter. Mr Hamelau had lived in and near State Center for a number of years. More recently he had made his home with his children, seven of whom survive. They are William Hamelau, city; Mrs Earl Frohwein and Mrs John Mehlisch of Colo; Arthur Hamelau of Einely, Wisconsin, Mrs Fred Brandt, of this place; Clarence Hamelau of Albia and Henry Hamelau of Minnesota. The funeral is being held this afternoon at St Paul's Lutheran Church and interment will be in the Zearing cemetery. November 3, 1921 State Center Enterprise.
