Description	:	Inger and Hans Christopherson came in a covered wagon. They built a sod shanty which they lived in until the house, which still stands, was built. Passed down through the generations is the original homestead paper (1872) for the land to an Orison Bagley, hand signed by Secretary D.D. Cone for President Grant. Hans and Inger's mortgage papers, which remain, show that Hans and Inger (she signed her name with an X) purchased the land from Mr. Bagley in 1896 for five hundred dollars. After their passing, the farm was purchased by two of their nine children, Emil and Carl Christopherson in 1915, who batched there and farmed the land. Emil and Carl's brother, Helmer, lived on the next sec¬tion with his wife, Ingeborg, and their sons Clifford, Clarence, and Henry. When Henry was old enough to help his two uncles farm, he moved in with them. He married and brought his wife, Norma, to live on the farm. Carl died early in their marriage. Emil lived for many years with Henry and his fami¬ly. ever having any family of his own, they became his fami¬ly. It was to Henry and his family that he left the farm when he passed away in 1955. Henry and Norma and their family lived on the land un¬til Henry's passing at age 67 in 1979. Henry farmed the land until 1962 when he was forced into semi-retirement, because of heart disease. Though Henry and Norma and their then "almost grown" family remained on the farm, the land was rented. Henry and Norma loved the farm, the land, their church, Trinity Lutheran of the local Moe Parish, and the people of their farming community. They had three children: Marilynn, now Mrs. Russell Olson in Sioux Falls; Myron, in Mitchell; and Janelle, Mrs. Dennis Jarabek in Sioux Falls. Marilynn gave Henry and Norma two grandchildren, Laurie and Craig. Myron and his wife, Loy, gave them Randy, Jeanne, and Todd. Janelle brightened their lives with Christine, Gretchen, and Bradley. Norma left the farm after Henry's death and bought a house in Canton.
