Read More	OBITUARY : AGED BOONSBORO MAN CRUSHED TO DEATH BY AUTO - Henry Ford, 81, Killed on State Road at South Mountain - VICTIM KILLED BY SKIDDING MACHINE - Body is Crushed Against a Telephone Pole HENRY FORD, 81, near Boonsboro, was instantly killed when he was crushed against a telephone pole by a skidding automobile on South Mountain, about 11 o'clock last Friday morning. The accident took place near Ford's home, just this side of South Mountain and almost directly in front of his sister's residence, Mrs. Catherine Hutzell. Mr. Ford, father of Benjamin F. Ford, local pool room proprietor, was attracted to the scene by another accident, in which a fruit truck upset while rounding a slippery curve on the mountain. While standing at the scene, the car of Harry B. Fay, Baltimore, likewise skidded on the wet curve and after being righted the machine skidded on bananas spilled by the fruit truck, and crushed Mr. Ford against the pole. Witnesses to the accident rushed to the aged man's assistance, but found him dead. The body was speedily extricated and a physician summoned. Justice Richard Duffey, acting coroner, and Deputies Cushwa and Gouff investigated the crash which was, declared unavoidable by Justice Duffey, who decided no inquest was necessary. Mr. Fay explained that he was descending the mountain en route to Hagerstown and skidded just like the fruit truck had skidded on the wet slippery pike. He had attempted to stop on seeing the fruit truck and in attempting to right his machine the rear wheels struck the bananas scattered over the pike and carried the car gainst the telephone pole. H, R. Davis, an employee of the Boonsboro Light Company, and William Jones, another nearby resident, being younger than Mr. Ford and more agile, were able to jump out of the way of Fay's car. The fruit truck was driven by Wm. Bond, Corbett street. He was accompanied by Russell Batt, this city. Bond was slightly hurt. Mr. Ford was a life-long resident of the Boonsboro district and resided alone. His wife died about a year ago. Surviving him are sons: Benjamin F. Ford, this city, and Jacob B. Ford, Beaver Creek; two daughters, Mrs. Luther Kephart, South Mountain, and Mrs. Clyde Koogle, Bolivar, Frederick county. The sister, Mrs. Hutzell, and two brothers, John Ford, Beaver Creek, and Samuel Ford, Boonsboro, also survive. Funeral will be held on Wednesday, leaving the house at 2:30 p. m. Services at the Lutheran Church, Bponsboro, by Rev. M. A. Ashby, assisted by Rev. S. A. Kipe. Interment in Boonsboro Cemetery.
