Description	:	Henry C. Lanser, 86, of Pella, and formerly of Oskaloosa, died Monday, February 20, 2006, in the Pella Regional Health Center in Pella. He was born April 21, 1919, near Sully, the son of John and Elizabeth Bruxvoort Lanser. He attended Sully Christian Grade School. At a young age he became a professing member of the Sully Christian Reformed Church. In January of 1943, he entered the United States Army. Lanser, 86, of Pella, and formerly of Oskaloosa, died Monday, February 20, 2006, in the Pella Regional Health Center in Pella. He was born April 21, 1919, near Sully, the son of John and Elizabeth Bruxvoort Lanser. He attended Sully Christian Grade School. At a young age he became a professing member of the Sully Christian Reformed Church. In January of 1943, he entered the United States Army. Before being shipped overseas, Henry was united in marriage to Clara Brummel on August 2, 1943, at Camp Campbell, Kentucky, and she died December 2, 1987. While in Germany, the tank which Henry was in was hit by German guns, and he was seriously injured. He spent two years in military hospitals recovering from his injuries and in 1947 was honorably discharged from the Army and awarded the Purple Heart. Upon his return from the military, Henry went to work for his brother in law Henry Jansen, in his poultry business at Sully. He farmed with his father for a short time on a farm near Sully, then moved north of Oskaloosa and farmed until 1962, when Henry and Clara moved into Oskaloosa. He also ran a custom corn shelling service while farming and in 1978, he retired. In retirement, he worked for Oskaloosa Gas and Oil in Oskaloosa. He was a member of the Sully Christian Reformed Church and later transferred to Leighton Christian Reformed Church, where he served as a deacon, a Sunday school teacher, and several terms as an elder. He enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his grandchildren. Those left to cherish his memory are his four children and their spouses, James and Phyllis Lanser of Pella, Darrell and Allene Lanser of Oskaloosa, Sue and John Roose of University Park, and Lori and Mike Brink of Fremont; 10 grandchildren: Sherry Miedema, Dave Lanser, Shelly Lanser, John Lanser, Tammy Donohue, Jason Roose, Tara Parks, Ryan Brink, Jeremy Brink, and Kelsey Brink; 12 great grandchildren; 4 sisters: Nellie Van Maaren of Denver, Colorado, Harriet (& Dan) Van Wyk of Pella, Betty Nikkel and Joann Zylstra both of Sully; and 4 brothers: Pete (& Junella) Lanser of Denver, Colorado, John (& Lois) Lanser of Pella, Arie Lanser of Pella, and Marvin (& Ruth) Lanser of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Besides his wife, Henry was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters: Durkey Van Kooten and Mattie Jansen; and one brother: Brant Lanser.
