Description	:	Funeral services for Henry Helzer were held last Sunday at 2:30 pm. at Christ Lutheran Church in St. Paul, conducted by the pastor, Rev. A. H. Wagner. Two tents were erected near the church to accommodate the immense crowd. About 250 were seated in the church and it is estimated that over 400 were in the tents or outside. Mr. Henry Helzer was born on December 28, 1886 and was called to his eternal Home on November 11, 1948 at the age of 61 years 10 months and 14 days. Born in Norka, Russia, he came with his parents to America at the age of 4. As an infant he was baptized into the Christian faith, and as a youth, became a member at Trinity Lutheran Church in Grand Island, Nebr. thru the rite of confirmation. On August 3, 1910 he was united in marriage to Miss Elizabeth Bader. They made their home on a farm in Gage Valley. Except for four years, this has been their home until three years ago, when they purchased a home in St. Paul. Mr. Helzer was preceded in death by his father in 1945, 3 sisters and 1 grandchild. Survivors include his wife, his mother, Mrs. Emma Helzer, Grand Island; three sons, Albert Helzer, St. Libory, and Walt and Martin Helzer, Palmer; three daughters, Mrs. Emma Knothe, Mrs. Mamie Leth and Mrs. Freda Oakeson, all of St. Paul; four sisters, Mrs. Harry Prince, Glendale, California; Mrs. Bill Horstman and Mrs. Frieda Weiland, both of Grand Island; and Mrs. Harry Bunge of Auburn; four brothers, John Helzer, Palmer; Phillip Helzer, Cairo; Conrad Helzer, Flint, Mich; Louis Helzer, Grand Island; 11 grandchildren and many other relatives and a host of friends. At the time of his death, Mr. Helzer was a member of the Howard County Fair Board, active in the Farmer's Union and other local organizations. He was a charter member of Christ Lutheran Church of St. Paul, served as chairman of the building committee and was elder of the congregation.
