Walker, which occurred at the home in Maxwell Wednesday afternoon of last week, was a shock to the community and especially to those not closely in touch with the family. He was taken ill immediately following the close of his sale program which terminated with the R. G. Thompson sale, apparently with an attack of the flu. Pneumonia developed and early last week his condition became serious. Dr. Ryan, of Des Moines, was called in consultation with Dr. Joor, a trained nurse put in charge, and everything possible was done to combat the disease, but without avail, death coming quite suddenly following a convulsion. Henry Earl Walker was born near Mitchellville, Iowa, December 29, 1883, and departed this life March 10, 1926, at the age of forty-two years, two months and eleven days. February 7, 1908, he was united in marriage to Edith Walker. To this happy union were born three children: Faye, age eleven years; Donald, nine years, and one daughter who died in infancy. Mr. Walker farmed for several years, later taking up the profession of an auctioneer in which he achieved considerable success, especially since his removal to Maxwell six years ago. During his residence in Maxwell he had made many friends and at the time of his death was a member of the town council, having been elected to that position at the 1925 election. During the Anderson meetings last November deceased was converted and united with the Presbyterian church at Maxwell. He was an honored and faithful member of Social Lodge, No. 463, I. O. O. F. of Maxwell, as well as the Rebekah lodge of this place. There remains to mourn his death his companion and the two children; one sister, Mrs. Mack McCleary, of Bondurant; one brother, O. E. Walker, of Villard, Minn., many other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held Saturday at 11 o'clock at the Presbyterian church, conducted by Rev. H. D. Robinson, of Des Moines, late pastor of the church. The Odd Fellow and Rebekah lodges attended in a body and the funeral ceremony of the order was read at the church. Interment was made in the family burial lot at Mitchellville.
