Kremer, 78, insurance broker and former banker, passed away in a Dubuque hospital Sunday morning, June 18th, at 12:30 o'clock after being ill five months. He was born in this city Feb. 16, 1872, and was a son of Leo and Marie Fritz and attended the Dyersville schools. Kremer, 78, insurance broker and former banker, passed away in a Dubuque hospital Sunday morning, June 18th, at 12:30 o'clock after being ill five months. He was born in this city Feb. 16, 1872, and was a son of Leo and Marie Fritz and attended the Dyersville schools. On May 21st, 1895, he was married to Miss Bertha Weidenbacher of this city in St. Francis Xavier church, the late Rt. Rev. Msgr. G.W. Heer officiating. She passed away on Jan. 13, 1941. Mr. Kremer began his life as a banker at the age of 15 years, when on Jan. 20, 1887, as a janitor and messenger boy, he entered the German State Bank, later known as the United States Bank and is now the Dyersville National Bank. By his diligent, honest and sincere efforts, he worked himself up as an employee of the bank until he became the president of the bank. He also served as cashier of the bank and as one of the board of directors during his 50 years in the banking business. He was always very active in civic affairs, was a charter member of the Dyersville Commercial Club, serving as a member of the board of directors and on various committees of the club until recent years, when failing health caused him to retire to some extent from those activities. He was also a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters and the Modern Woodmen. Surviving are two daughters, Norma, at home, and Helen of Chicago; and four sons, Earl of Chicago, Jos. of Dyersville, Ray of Decorah and Alan with the US navy, stationed in Guam; four grand children, and one brother, Frank Fritz of Elgin, Neb. Preceding him in death, besides his wife, were five brothers and two sisters. The funeral was held this Wednesday morning at nine o'clock from the Kramer Funeral home to St. Francis Xavier church, where a requiem Mass was offered for the repose of his soul and the burial was in St. Francis cemetery.
