Description	:	Henry is the 5th born child of Siebelt and Gesche Dirks. His birth record in Germany shows Frederick Henrich as his name. He came to America in 1888 with his parents and turned to his brother John who was living in LeMars,IA, for training as as carpenter. Thirteen years later he married Minnie Milbrodt on January 25, 1901 in Akron,Iowa. Shortly after their marriage they moved to Coleridge where they took over the operation of his parents farm. "Grandpa" Siebelt was failing fast and needed watching so five year old granddaughter Lydia was given the task of accompanying him when he wanted to go outside. Life on the farm was hard and the family was always on guard for storms. Any black clouds appearing on the horizon was a siginal for the family to rush to the cellar for protection. Indians traveled through the farm at random. One morning, an Indian stuch his head in the window and demanded the pancakes Minnie was baking. Gypsies wandered through continually, and even though everyone in the family was instructed to watch the gypsies closely lest they stole something. But there were always chickens missing when the gypspies were gone. They seemed to be very adept at tucking the chickens under their wide skirts. No meal was served until all nine children were seated around the table and a German prayer had been said.
