He married Harriet Eliza Barker on September 6, 1891 in St. Margaret's Parish Church , Plumstead, Woolwich, Kent, England. His military records show he was absent on April 1, 1897. Dartford Union Workhouse records shows he was admitted to the infirmary on April 2, 1897 where he died on April 29, 1897. He was buried May 1, 1897 in the Bexley Heath Cemetery in Bexley Heath, Kent, England.
