KIRKPATRICK died at his home on West Burlington Street Saturday morning, after an illness of several months and many years of suffering from wounds received in the army. Mr. KIRKPATRICK was born at Greensburg, Ind., April 6th, 1841, came to Jefferson County with his parents in 1853 and lived for many years three miles east of this city on a farm. KIRKPATRICK died at his home on West Burlington Street Saturday morning, after an illness of several months and many years of suffering from wounds received in the army. Mr. KIRKPATRICK was born at Greensburg, Ind., April 6th, 1841, came to Jefferson County with his parents in 1853 and lived for many years three miles east of this city on a farm. He was a member of the Third Iowa Cavalry in the Civil War, enlisting in 1862. He was wounded at Mexico, Mo., and discharged from the service, but again enlisted in the Thirtieth Iowa Infantry and served until the close of hostilities. He was married in this city to Sarah GAINES, who survives him, February 1st, 1866. They were the parents of four children, three of whom are now living -- Mrs. M. F. BLACK of Creston, John E. of Mt. Pleasant, and Miss Nellie of this city. Mr. KIRKPATRICK had been a resident of Fairfield since 1882, and was in business here for several years. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, a man of honesty, integrity, and excellent character, a brave soldier and a good citizen. Funeral services were held at the family residence Monday afternoon, and were conducted by Rev. Alex. Corkey. ---- Note: Jefferson County genealogy records indicate that Henry was the son of John and Frances Kirkpatrick, who are buried in this same plot.
