Leymaster, 82, and a resident of the community since 1873, died suddenly last Thursday afternoon at the Aurora hospital as the result of a stroke. In failing health for several months, he had spent some time in the hospital, but his death came suddenly. The passing of Mr. Leymaster removes another of this county's prominent early residents - a man whose early life was filled with pioneer experiences and who knew those early day hardships. He contributed in many ways in to the building of the county and state, not only in the development of the prairie country, but by holding various public offices of trust. Impressive final rites were conducted from the Methodist church (sic) on Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock with Rev. Roy Richmond officiating. A quartet composed of Barbara Hansen, Betty Applegate, Gerald Cole and Howard Eloe sang "Rock of Ages" and "Abide With Me," accompanied by Mrs. Glenn Haworth at the organ. Henry Harrison Leymaster was born near Freeport, Ill., Oct. 14, 1858, and died in Aurora, Nebr., Dec. 26, 1940, aged 82 years, 2 months and 12 days. The deceased came to Nebraska from his childhood home in Illinois with his parents in 1873, and located on a piece of raw prairie land north of Aurora. Mr. Leymaster was married on October 23, 1879, to Fannie Reber. Four children, all boys, were born to this union, namely: Ross, Harry E., William F., and Leslie H., three of whom survive their father today - the youngest son, Ross, preceded his father in death in 1924. The mother also passed away on June 3, 1928. Other than the above-named relatives the deceased leaves to mourn his loss one brother, Cal Leymaster of Aurora, six grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Leymaster was one of the few survivors of pioneer days in Hamilton county (sic). He was associated with every movement of progress both politically and socially in this fast-developing community. He was twice elected to the important political office of county commissioner. After his removal to the city of Aurora he was elected to the office of city councilman. He was also prominent in church work in the Methodist church until ill health made such activity impossible. The deceased was one of the substantial men of the community Honest, industrious, and withal of a friendly disposition, he built up a large circle of friends and neighbors who will greatly regret his passing. Mr. Leymaster was a kind father and loving husband. He loved his home, his community and his country, and in his passing the community loses one of its valued citizens. Pallbearers were Geo.
