Surviving children are Clarence of near Floyd, Forrest of Ionia, Mrs. Ann Groniga of Waterloo, Mrs. Genevieve Tiemens of Greene, Mrs. Henrietta Shuler near Rudd, Mrs. Berbice Stewart of Nora Springs, and John of rural Charles City. He has fifteen grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Two brothers, Andrew of Allsion and Ben of near Kesley and two sisters, Mrs. Emma DeGrote of Clarksville, and Mrs. Anna Seibens of rural Aplington, also survive. His parents, a sister, Mrs. Jennie Evers, New Hartford and a brother, Kneal Hinders of Waverly preceded him in death. In 1940 Mr. and Mrs. Hinders moved to a farm one mile east of Rudd. On October 23, 1949, Mrs. hinders passed away. Since that time he had remained there in semi-retirement until Labor Day, September 2. Ill health forced him to give up his home. He lived 2 months with his daughter and family south of Rudd. Since November 3 he has been cared for at Greene by his daughter, Mrs. Tiemens, at whose home he passed away in the early afternoon of December 11. He reached the age of 74 years, 2 months, and 10 days. Funeral services were held on Saturday afternoon at the Methodist church in Rudd with burial in the Rudd Cemetery.
