Read More	Koontz, Henry Irwin 22 April 1890 – 06 Oct. 1959 The Newark Advocate Henry Irwin Koontz, 69, who had been engaged in the oil and gas well contracting business in Licking and Knox Counties the past 45 years, was found dead late Monday on the farm of his brother Willard Koontz in the St. Louisville area, where he had been drilling a gas well for family use. Authorities were notified and it was learned that he had been under the care of a physician since September for a heart ailment. Mr. Koontz, a resident of State Route 657, Chatham area, had worked with his brother in the morning and he left him at noon to go to his work. When he returned, he made efforts to call his brother by telephone to check on the work they had been engaged in that morning. When he was unable to get a reply he drove to the location of the well and found that he had been stricken as he worked. He was born April 22, 1890, in St. Louisville, the son of George and Elizabeth (Locke) Koontz. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Eunice (Raby) Koontz whom he married in March, 1938. She is a member of the faculty of Ashland College, Ashland. He also leaves a son Paul F. Koontz of Columbus; five daughters, Mrs. Joseph Walton of Utica, Mrs. Robert Cromer of Granville, Mrs. Virginia Tabler of Mt. Vernon, and Mrs. Betty Jane Burson of Royal Oak, Mich.: also six grandchildren; two brothers, Locke Koontz of Northville, Mich., Willard of St. Louisville; one sister, Mrs. Harry Siegle of Newark. Three brothers are deceased. Mr. Koontz was a member of Chatham Methodist Church; Wyoming Valley Grange and the Well Drillers Association. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Brucker & Kishler Funeral Home with the Rev. Lee R. Hall and the Rev. Lucious L. Argoue conducting the service. Burial in Wilson Cemetery.
