Nibel of Linn Grove, lost his life by drowning June 9th in a creek near his home. Henry and an older brother had gone to the creek during the afternoon to fish. The smaller lad decided to go farther down the stream to try his luck. The younger boy did not return in an hour or so and so the older lad decided to return home and he left a note for his brother under the bait can that he had gone home. At 8 o'clock that evening when Henry failed to return home the parents became anxious and a general alarm was given throughout the neighborhood and searching parties were organized as it was feared that the lad had drowned. Two men searching along the banks of the stream discovered his tracks and followed them. Suddenly they came to a deep hole in the channel and here the tracks seemed to terminate. They fastened some fish hooks onto a pole and started to probe the hole and they soon found the body of the lad. His parents were living on the Elmer Powell farm north of Linn Grove. Henry and Clayton, his 15-year-old brother, were fishing when the smaller boy disappeared. The body was found late at night by Fred Ness, the janitor of the Linn Grove high school, who threw the light from an electric flashlight into the water and discovered the body close to the bank.
