Description	:	Henry John "Hank" Heilers, 95, originally of Stratton, died Sunday, December 3, 2006 at Hillcrest Nursing Home. He was born on July 5, 1911, in Huntingburg, Indiana to Joseph and Magdalena (Grabber) Heilers. The family moved to Lawrence and later to Stratton in 1919. He attended Stratton Public Schools through the eighth grade. He helped his family on the farm and worked for other area farmers. He lived at Strattton until March of 1942, when he was drafted into the army. He served overseas during World War II in Belgium, France, England and Germany.... Read More	Henry John "Hank" Heilers, 95, originally of Stratton, died Sunday, December 3, 2006 at Hillcrest Nursing Home. He was born on July 5, 1911, in Huntingburg, Indiana to Joseph and Magdalena (Grabber) Heilers. The family moved to Lawrence and later to Stratton in 1919. He attended Stratton Public Schools through the eighth grade. He helped his family on the farm and worked for other area farmers. He lived at Strattton until March of 1942, when he was drafted into the army. He served overseas during World War II in Belgium, France, England and Germany. After his honorable discharge, he and his brother, Aloys, purchased a farm south of Trenton where they raised sheep and grain crops. Due to failing health, they had to give up the farm that they loved so much. They moved to Willow Ridge Retirement Center in McCook in 1996. In 2001, they moved to Hillcrest Nursing Home. He was a lifelong member of the Stratton American Legion, William Egle Post No.0281. Preceding him in death were his parents, Joseph and Magdalena Heilers; one brother, Leonard Heilers; and two sisters, Elenora Reiman and Augusta Andrijeski. Survivors include one brother, Aloys "Fat" Heilers of McCook; three sisters, Leona Haller of Stratton; Rose Farschon of Slaton, Texas; and Irene Gibson of McCook; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m., at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with the Revs. Sean Redmond and Gary Brethour as officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery with Military Honor Committal. Forch Funeral Chapel of Stratton is in charge of the arrangement. Source: McCook Daily Gazette, December 5, 2006
