Description	:	Henry Laber, age 86, of Carrington, ND, died in his sleep, Wednesday, May 31, 2006, at Golden Acres Manor. Henry John Laber was born July 31, 1919, in Bilodeau Township of Wells County, near Dover, ND, the son of Louie and Tillie (Wild) Laber. He was raised and attended school at Dover. Henry John Laber was born July 31, 1919, in Bilodeau Township of Wells County, near Dover, ND, the son of Louie and Tillie (Wild) Laber. He was raised and attended school at Dover. He attended one year of high school at Sykeston. In 1937, Henry joined the C.C.C.'s. He then returned home to farm with his dad on the family farm. Henry served in the US Army from January 1942 until October 1945 during WWII in the South Pacific Theatre at Guadal Canal and the Figi Islands. After his discharge, Henry returned home to farm. On November 18, 1947, he was united in marriage to Meredythe Busch at Sacred Heart Church in Carrington. Henry and Meredythe retired from farming in 1974 and moved to Carrington in 1975. Henry worked for Nicholson-Carr Implement, Town & Country Motors, and the Green Thumb Program, all of Carrington. He received his Honorary High School diploma, granted to WWII Veterans that were unable to finish school due to the war. Meredythe Laber died April 12, 1995. Henry was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the St. Joseph's Society at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church at Sykeston, the Sykeston Bourk-Hollingsworth VFW Post #17, and the Carrington John Raymond O'Hara American Legion Post #25. He moved into Golden Acres Manor in January 2005. He is survived by one daughter, Linda (Billy) Clark of Woodworth, ND; three sons, Larry (Carla) of Winona, MN, Roger of Grand Forks, ND, and John (Vera-Ellen) of Portland, ME; 6 grandchildren, Patricia (Bill) Ostrander, Ryan (Jen) Laber, Nicole (Keith) Trottier, Josh (Natashya) Laber, Jonna (Dennis) Ziniel, and Kristen Clark; 5 great grandchildren; one sister, Viola (Sylvester) Sondag, Hopkins, MN; two brothers, Clarence of Devils Lake, ND, and Ervin (Joan) of West Fargo, ND; three sisters-in-law, Barb Laber of MN, Carol Fisher and Judy Davis of AL; and two brothers-in-law, Phillip Busch of Minot, ND, and Sam Ramsey of AL. Henry was receded in death by his wife, Meredythe; his parents; one brother, Louis (Brown); three sisters-in-law, Agnes Laber, Von Ramsey, and Linda Kivley; and one brother-in-law, Butch Kivley. A prayer service was held on Sunday, June 4, 2006, at the Evans Funeral Home. The funeral Mass was conducted on Monday, June 5, 2006, at Sacred Heart Church, Rev. Lawrence Haas officiating. Serving as casket bearers were John Laber, Larry Laber, Roger Laber, Bill Clark, Phil Busch, Leo Dubord, and Rich Laber. Henry's grandchildren were honorary bearers. Todd & Susan Bickett sang the Battle Hymn of the Republic as a prelude duet while Henry's friends from the Legion posts presented colors. Special music for the Mass was sung by Barb Page with Catherine Palmer, organist. Military honors were provided by Bourk-Hollingsworth VFW Post #17 of Sykeston and John Raymond O'Hara American Legion Post #25 of Carrington. Interment was at the Carrington Cemetery.
