Description	:	Henry John Trager was the son of John Trager and Mary Dorothy Bauer Trager, a young couple who had been in America just three short years, having immigrated from Germany in 1892. Henry John was born in Osage, Mitchell County, Iowa on February 14, 1895, the third of ten children. He received his education in Osage, Iowa and accompanied his parents and family to South Dakota in 1913 as they settled on a farm located in Custer, Corson County, South Dakota. Read More	Henry John Trager was the son of John Trager and Mary Dorothy Bauer Trager, a young couple who had been in America just three short years, having immigrated from Germany in 1892. Henry John was born in Osage, Mitchell County, Iowa on February 14, 1895, the third of ten children. He received his education in Osage, Iowa and accompanied his parents and family to South Dakota in 1913 as they settled on a farm located in Custer, Corson County, South Dakota. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1917 and served overseas during World War I. Upon his return to Corson County in 1919, he began working in road construction. At the age of 27, he married Robena Catherine Colville on March 16, 1921 in McIntosh, Corson County, South Dakota. He worked in the McIntosh and Morristown area most of his life. He retired in 1960. Henry John Trager was a member of the Ralph T. Ankerson American Legion Post at McIntosh. In January, 1982, he entered the Mobridge Care Center and died there on Tuesday, March 23, 1982. He is survived by his wife, Robena, of McIntosh; two sons, Robert Malcom of Mobridge and Alister Henry of Rapid City; two daughters, Margaret Christena Lund (Marlowe) of Mobridge and Vivian Maxine Main (Lester) of Keldron; nine grand-children; eight great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Anna Amelia Striegel of Long Beach, California, Mathilde Emilie Louise "Tillie" Askin of Sun City, Arizona, Ella Helen Clara Utoft (Henry) of McIntosh, and Leona Agnes Trager of Lakewood, California. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Dorothy Bauer Trager; one sister, Elizabeth Barbara "Lizetta" Gifford (Frank); and four brothers, Arthur Carl "Artie" Trager (Lela Irene Butolph), Philip John Trager, Andrew G. Trager, and Harold Herman Trager (Ruth Dorothea Kilness). Burial with military graveside honors will be on Saturday, March 27, 1982 in the McIntosh Cemetery, McIntosh, Corson Co., South Dakota.
