From Dorian the Historian: Story County Watchman May 12, 1905 DIED--At his residence in this city on Sunday last after an illness of some duration H. K. Hulse. In fact every since his discharge from the army, in which he served during the rebellion, and the complication resulting therefrom is the direct cause of the end at this time. Recently he was absent at the Hot Springs in Ark., trusting that he would improve but such was not to be and last hour duely arrived as it has always done in the past. He was a native of Warren, O., where he entered the service, coming out, serving three years and being discharged in 1865. He was married to Miss Olivia Bedford* in 1865, and then came to Nevada where they have made their home ever since. He was a member of Jason D. Ferguson Post G. A. R., who turned out the remnant of those who are still in service, the most of whom followed the cortege to the cemetery where the last words were spoken. Rev. Sanford, of the Presbyterian church delivered the address for the occasion. He leaves a wife and one son Wallace B., to look forward to that meeting in the future. *SUBMITTER'S NOTE: Henry K. Hulse married Olive Bradford in Trumbull County, Ohio on 24 December 1867. __________________ From Find A Grave contributor Jean Wilson: I have been researching the family of Mr. Hulse, and was humbled by the long line of pioneers who through their labors and participation in the great wars in this country bought our freedoms. Henry Huls,Sr. was the first of his line I was able to trace. He was born in 1737 and resided in Allegheny Co., Penn. He enlisted in the Army during the Revolutionary War as a Pvt. 1st class, 2nd battalion for Washington Co. He was buried in Peters Creek Baptist Cemetery in Liberty, Pa. I was unable to find the location or name of his wife, but his sons are traced thru FAG & his #49645947. One of his sons, Henry K. Hulse served in the War of 1812 under Pvt. Capt. Daniel Dull's Co., Ohio Military. Henry was born 10/10/1782 in Trumbull Bazetta Twp., Ohio, and died 3/3/1867 in the same location. His FAG is 38119843. His spouse was Fannie R. Moore Hulse, who he married 4/29/1847. An 1812 was pension showed his enlishment Aug. 1812 and discharge 3/3/1813. Fannie died 9/13,1878 in Niles, Ohio. His son, James, Hulse was the father of this Henry Hulse. James was born in 1819, and died in 1893. James married Betsey R. Baines in Trumbull, Ohio, Dec 14, 1839, when he was 17 yrs. old. His FAG memorial reports a different woman as his wife, but, I have contacted the contributor for a correction after seeing the marriage certificate. I'm not sure if Henry's father was in the war, but one of his other brothers, Eben Hulse, also served in the Civil War, enlisting 8/22/1861 w/a rank of Farrier, serving Ohio in Co. C,. Oh. 2nd Cav. Reg. He mustered out 11/9/1865. His FAG #71876861. I could not locate the burial place for Betsey. Henry also had a sister, Janette, besides his brother Eben. James listed his occupation as that of a "joiner". He had a brother, Seth, who lived w/ them according to an 1850 census, and worked as a carpenter. In an 1880 census, this Henry Hulse, and Olive were living in Colo where Henry farmed. At that time, a son, W. B. Hulse was 10 mos. old ( Named Wallace according to this report.)
