Horn was born in Pewaukee, Wisconsin, September 23, 1848 and passed away at his home in Beaver Crossing, Nebraska, November 5, 1940, at the age of 92 years, 1 month, 13 days. He enlisted March 23, 1865, in the 48th Regiment, Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry, and was honorably discharged March 24, 1866. On October 21, 1869, he was united in marriage to Margaret Jane Kerr Alexander, at Delafield, Wisconsin. To this union one child, Mary Elizabeth Horn, was born on December 5, 1881. Horn was born in Pewaukee, Wisconsin, September 23, 1848 and passed away at his home in Beaver Crossing, Nebraska, November 5, 1940, at the age of 92 years, 1 month, 13 days. He enlisted March 23, 1865, in the 48th Regiment, Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry, and was honorably discharged March 24, 1866. On October 21, 1869, he was united in marriage to Margaret Jane Kerr Alexander, at Delafield, Wisconsin. To this union one child, Mary Elizabeth Horn, was born on December 5, 1881. In 1870 they moved to Nebraska and took a homestead in southeast York County. Mr. and Mrs. Horn moved to an acreage near Beaver Crossing in the fall of 1904, now known as the Smiley Water Gardens. On October 21, 1919, they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. On December 16, 1919, Mrs. Horn passed away. Mr. Horn continued to live there until the fall of 1924 when he moved to the home where he resided until his death. In the fall of 1935, his daughter, Mrs. Mary Rhodes, came to live with him through the remaining years of his life. Mr. Horn was a great lover of outdoor sports, fishing, and hunting. He united with the United Brethern Church in his early life and was a firm believer in doing what was right. When he moved to Beaver Crossing, he united with the Methodist Church. He will be greatly missed in his home by his daughter and grandchildren. His one desire was to see his great grandchildren come home. He leaves to mourn his departure one daughter, Mary Rhodes, of Beaver Crossing, one stepdaughter, Jane Coker, of Alliance, Nebraska, 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon in the Methodist Church, Beaver Crossing, Rev. W.E. Goings officiated and Rev. M.H. Kruse assisting. Burial was in Beaver Crossing Cemetery.
