Davidson, 53, of Ottumwa route 4, died at 7:50 p.m. Monday at Veterans hospital in Iowa City following an illness of several weeks. He had been a coal miner. The son of James and Martha Carter Davidson, he was born May 14, 1905, at Miami, Mo. He resided in Wapello county for 40 years and was a veteran of World war II. He entered service July 6, 1942, at Ft. Des Moines and was discharged March 18, 1945, at Battle Creek, Mich. He was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Survivors include three brothers, James and William Davidson, both of Ottumwa route 4, and Robert Davidson, Ottumwa, and two sisters, Mrs. Catherine Hughes, Dewitt, Mo., and Mrs. Alma Surber, Ottumwa route 4. Preceding him in death were his parents and two brothers, Charles and Jack Davidson. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Johnson funeral chapel, conducted by the Rev. Clarence Dowell of Benton Street Baptist chapel. Burial will be at Shaul cemetery. The casket will be closed at the beginning of the service. Pallbearers will be Walter, Eugene and Melvin Surber, James Davidson and James and Eugene Hughes.
