His marriage with Emeline Baker was celebrated June 28, 1849, after which he engaged in farming in Jackson Township where he owned a small farm; one year later, he erected a house and continued to improve it till 1853 when he purchased his present farm... This being unimproved, he has since through industry and energy cleared up and improved to a good state. Mr and Mrs Maggert were the parents of nine children-Sarah E, Mary C, Laura M, Nancy A, Minerva J, James W, Rosa M, Isabella F (died in infancy), and Taletha A. Mrs Maggert was born in Fairfield Co, Ohio, in 1827. She is a daughter of Henry and Mary Baker both natives of Pennsylvania. St Paris News August 6, 1908 Henry Maggert, son of Abraham and Sarah Maggert, was born February 11, 1826, in Johnson Twp and departed this life August 3, 1908, aged 82 years, 5 months and 23 days. He was united in marriage with Emaline Baker on June 28, 1849. To this union was born nine children, eight daughters and one son. He leaves to mourn their loss, six daughters, a son, twenty one grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildren. Two daughters preceded him to the spirit world. He was one of Champaign Counties most highly respected citizens.
