Read More	The Columbus Telegram, July 23, 1946, page 8, transcribed by Linda Berney: Henry Ragatz Dies Today in Omaha - Henry Newton Ragatz, 66, prominent Columbus business man, died at 5:15 a.m. today at the Clarkson hospital in Omaha where he had been a patient since July 6. Death resulted from angina pectoris. He was born March 20, 1880 in Columbus, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Ragatz Sr. and had since made his home here with the exception of several years' residence in Los Angeles, Calif. He attended the Columbus schools and later a business college in Illinois. On June 21, 1905 he married Louise Daves who passed away about 1923. Two children were born to them, a daughter who died in infancy and a son, Henry Ragatz, III who died in 1928. On April 22, 1929 he married Hilda Grutter of Columbus, who survives him. His father, Henry Ragatz, Sr., opened the Henry Ragatz company in 1879 and the store was in continuous service to the residents of this community with exception of the years between 1909 and 1915 which the family spent in California. In 1915 the Ragatz store at Twenty-seventh avenue and Thirteenth street was built and the business carried on at that location until Aug. 31, 1945 when it was sold to Council Oak. Henry Ragatz, Jr. grew up with the store and was associated in business with his father and his brother, E.M. Ragatz. Following the death of Henry Ragatz, Sr., the two sons continued to operated the firm until last year. Mr. Ragatz was a member of the Christian Science Society and was also a member of the Masons and the Modern Woodmen. Besides his wife, he is survived by one brother, E. M. Ragatz of Columbus, and one half brother, Will Ragatz of Columbus. Contributor: Linda Berney (47343179)
