He was born on July 20, 1859 in Tetendorf, Hanover, Germany and was received in Commuion with the Triune God by the sacrament of Baptism on the 31st of July. Read More	Henry Von Loh Taken By Death Tuesday It has pleased the Lord to summon out of this life and unite Himself the soul of Henry Peter Von Loh, son of Henry Jacob Von Loh and his wife Kathrina Else, nee Braacks. He was born on July 20, 1859 in Tetendorf, Hanover, Germany and was received in Commuion with the Triune God by the sacrament of Baptism on the 31st of July. He came to the United States in August 1883 and settled near Nebraska City. Here he chose the vocation of farming and remained there until 1891 when he moved to Iowa. In 1893 he came to Phelps County and lived on a farm near Bertrand. In 1919 he retired and moved into Bertrand where in the northwest part of the village he lived to the day of his death. He was formerly a member of Hope Lutheran Church and in 1905, when the present St. Paul's congregation was founded he was transferred and became one of the charter members. Henry Von Loh was married to Dora Hahn of Ebsdorf, Germany on February 26, 1886. Nine children were born to this union, three of which have died. In November, 1904, his wife was taken from him by death. In 1907 he remarried and took to wife Martha Burr of Nebraska City. His second wife died in November 1925. Mr. Von Loh was not in good health in the last few years. He was suffering from a dropsical condition and on March 26, 1940 he died here in Bertrand at the age of 80 years, 8 months and 6 days. He is survived by the following: Mrs. Emma Hallier, John Von Loh, Edward Von Loh, Mrs. Edith Orthmann of Ludell, Kansas and Mrs. Carl Bergfeld. There are also two brothers living in California and one step-sister living in Ludell, Kansas. Twenty one nephews and nieces, three grand children and three great-grand children are also numbered among the survivors. The funeral service was conducted on March 28. Rev, M. Matuschka of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in charge. His mortal remains were laid to rest in Hope Lutheran Cemetery.
