Obituary- On Sunday January 10, 1993, Mr. Henry Ratchinsky, ages 86 years, beloved husband of Hilda, passed away peacefully at his residence at Dominion City, Manitoba. Besides his beloved wife Hilda, Mr. Ratchinsky leaves to cherish his memory, Clarence and Evelyn Ratchinsky of Winnipeg, Alice and William Ostrowky of Rosa, Diane and Hugh Lamont of Dominion City; his grandchildren, Cindy and Jarvis Hrynenko of Rosa, and Shaimer and Perry Daneault of Dominion City; his great grandson Glenn Hrynenko; special friends, Valerie Smoley and family and many relatives and friends. Henry was born in Fredensthal area on July 22, 1906. In 1938 he married Hilda Casper. They farmed in the Fredensthal area until 1955 at which time they moved to Dominion City. He was employed with the Provincial Highways from 1955-1972. Henry enjoyed his retirement years and loved helping his family. He could often be seen riding around town in his golf cart and enjoyed "matching" with his many friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Michael and Wilhelmine; four sisters, Ann Stark, Matilda "Tilly" Steinke, Olga Eritz, Regina "Jean" Steinke and Henrietta Behm and three brothers, Julius, Fred and Herman. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday January 13, at 2:00 p.m. in the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Dominion City with Pastor Roger Olson officiating. Interment will follow in the Dominion City Cemetery. Friends may pay their last respects at the church on Wednesday until 1:30 p.m. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Dominion City or to the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation. Honorary pallbearers for the service will be Messrs. Irwin Scott, Julius Schmidt, Harold Pott, Alf Sawatsky, Norman Solnes, Melvin Morken and John Wilson. Active pallbearers for the service will be Messrs. Ken Ratchinsky, Brian Ratchinsky, Wayne Casper, Taras Sokolyk, Toady Solnes and Cec Smoley. Loewen Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.
