Description	:	Yesterday morning word was received in Clay Center that County Commissioner Henry Rundle has died the night before at his home near Clifton. Mr. Rundle was elected county commissioner of this county from the First Commissioner district in the fall of 1902, taking his office in January, 1903. Read More	Yesterday morning word was received in Clay Center that County Commissioner Henry Rundle has died the night before at his home near Clifton. Mr. Rundle was elected county commissioner of this county from the First Commissioner district in the fall of 1902, taking his office in January, 1903. Almost two years ago, he was taken sick with rheumatism and other ailments of a nervous nature, which greatly interfered with his work. He tried many doctors and took some trips around in search of relief, but no doctor and no treatment seemed to do him much good. A year ago last Friday he took to his bed, from which he never again got up except for very short times. It was announced by the doctors that consumption was the final cause of his death. Henry Rundle came to this country from England in 1870. He at once came out to Clay county and located on the farm near Clifton, which was ever afterwards his home. Two years after his arrival here he was married to Miss Mary E. Thornton who came here from the same section of England as did the Rundles. For some years Henry ran a blacksmith shop on his farm, but after a few years he discontinued it and devoted himself to farming. He was uniformly successful and managed to accumulate considerable of this world's goods. Miss Thornton whom he married 33 years ago still survives him, and six children, Mrs. Elver Hainey, Samuel, Henry, Frank, Floyd and Stella. The first two are married and have homes of the their own. The last four yet make their home at the old farm house. All live in the county and were present at the funeral. Mr. Rundle was about 54 years of age. Henry Rundle was unquestionably one of the strong men of the county. Coming here a poor man, by his own efforts alone he made his way along until he was ranked as one of the county's rich men. Not only that, but his honesty, integrity and ability won him an enviable position among the men of the county. In public life and in private life he was above reproach, an honor to himself and friends. He ran ahead of his ticket when elected commissioner, which shows how his neighbors considered him. In his death the county loses a good officer as well as popular citizen who will be missed for many a day. All parties alike feel the loos of an honorable man such as he. His family has the sympathy of the entire county. Funeral services are being held this morning at Clifton, conducted by Rev. Mitchell of the Methodist church, of which Mr. Rundle was a member. A large number of Clay Center men went to the funeral, the county offices closing for the day.
