O'Day, who owns two hundred and five acres of land on section 2, LeRoy township, and who by his able management of this property has surrounded himself with a gratifying degree of success. He was born upon the farm where he now lives, November 25, 1871, and acquired his education in the district schools, in the Waverly high school and Upper Iowa University. Following the completion of his studies he secured a position as bookkeeper for C.E. Armstrong & Company, wholesale dealers in hardware at Clinton, and he was also deputy clerk of courts at Waverly for three years. Later he became a traveling salesman in North Dakota and he held this position until 1906, when he returned to Bremer county and bought two hundred and five acres of the old homestead. He has since remodeled the barn and erected a number of excellent buildings, neglecting nothing which would add to the attractive appearance and value of the place. He keeps graded cattle and hogs and engages extensively in dairy farming, meeting with a success which is the natural result of his ability and industry. In Lake Park, Minnesota, Mr. O'Day was united in marriage to Miss Mary O'Day and they have one child, Everette. Mr. O'Day is a member of the Catholic church and gives his political allegiance to the democratic party.
