| Description | : | Henry Shideler was born in 1845, near Berlin, Ohio, and when he was but a boy was taken by his parents to Clay County, Indiana, where he lived on a farm and was educated in the district schools. When still a young man he learned the wagonmaker's trade, was subsequently engaged in teaching for several years and finally turned his attention to farming.
