Read More	DEATH OF HENRY SIEMSEN DIED - At his home in this city, Friday, September 28th, at 6:30 a.m., Mr. Henry Siemsen, aged thirty-seven years, six months and eight days. On Friday, September 21st, Mr. Siemsen, by accident, fell into the ice house of J. J. Wesley, and while the distance he fell was not great, he suffered a compound fracture of the right leg just above the ankle bone. The injury was not considered dangerous and the patient was quite comfortable until Sunday when other complications set in and death followed after a week’s illness. His untimely death came as a great shock to his relatives and friends. Henry Siemsen was a true and faithful husband and father; an obedient son, and a kind and obliging neighbor and friend. A most comfortable home and business had been established and with a happy life just begun, the husband and father was called away; although he leaves his loved ones in good material circumstances, the family circle is broken and the good wife is left alone to continue the home and rear and educate the children. Henry Siemsen, son of Fred Siemsen and his wife, Anna Margareta Siemsen, formerly Johansen, was born the 20th of March, 1869, at Petershof, on the Island of Fehmarn, Province of Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. The 15th of March, 1883, he with his father and family immigrated to this country and settled in Ellsworth County, Kansas. Henry Siemsen lived on a farm near Holyrood until 1889, when he moved to our city and in 1899 engaged in the lumber business. On the 16th day of April, 1893, he was united in marriage with Bertha Stoltenberg. To this union six children were born, Dorathea, Clara, Berthold, Hattie and Amanda, and one child, Arthur, preceded his father. He is survived by his wife and five children, mother, father and one brother, Marcus. All live in Holyrood and all were present. The deceased had not only conducted a large and successful lumber business in this city, but he had been trustee at intervals for eight or nine years; he served on the city council, and again two years ago. He owned the Opera house building and had just fitted up one of the prettiest homes in the city. Although he transacted business with practically every man in the township, everyone was his friend and he was everyone’s friend. The funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at the German Evangelical church of which he was a member, and Rev. Mohri preached an eloquent sermon in German and also made appropriate remarks in English. The pall bearers were H. A. Stoltenberg, Julius Stoltenberg, Fred Stoltenberg, Otto Stoltenberg, H. P. Besthorn and C. F. Breford, all of whom are brother-in-laws of the deceased. The floral offerings were very beautiful, especially that of the Commercial club and of the Ladies Aid Society of the M. E. church. The remains were interred in the church cemetery. The funeral is said to be the largest in the history of the town. Between six and seven hundred were present to pay their last respects to their friend and neighbor. The entire community bows its head in sympathy with the family of Henry Siemsen.
