Description	:	Henry Slothouber, 81, or Alton, died Saturday, Dec. 3, 1994 at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars. A prayer service was held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 5 at the Van Etten-Oolman-Van Gelder Funeral Home in Orange City. The Rev. Roger Voskuil officiated. Interment followed at Nassau Township Cemetery near Alton. Henry was born Feb. 16, 1913 at Alton, the son of Walter and Hattie Hoekstra. After the deaths of both of his parents, he was adopted by Henry and Jane Slothouber in 1918. He made his home in Alton where was employed by the Alton Cement Works for 35 years. He later became a resident of the Pioneer Memorial Home in Orange City. On July 30, 1993 he transferred to The Abbey in Le Mars. He was a member of the Alton Reformed Church. Survivors include two sisters-in-law, Jennie Van Roekel of Hills, Minn., and Betty Weston of Casey, Iowa; and nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters, including Dora Slothouber.
