The following bio was provided by Sharman Ankenbruck (#47376646): "Henry Zumbrun II was born April 30, 1812 in Baltimore, Maryland. The son of Henry the 1st and Susannah Ream. He resided in the state of his nativity until he became twenty-four years of age. He then located in Montgomery, Ohio with validation from an International marriage record stating that he married Julia Kinsey on October 10, 1836. The 1840 and 1850 census also validates that he lived in Montgomery. Ohio. Afterwards he and his family removed to Whitley county in about 1854, as validated by the birth record of daughter Catherine. At this time Whitley County was abundant with wild game of all kind and there bought a tract of land of one hundred and eighty acres of unimproved and heavily timbered land. By diligent and continuous toil and good management he reduced the greater part of his land to tillage and today it is considered one of the finest farms in the county and was later owned by his youngest son, John Zumbrun. Henry and Julia had twelve children; seven daughters, Hannah (1837) Lucinda (1841) Sabann (1849), Mary Ann (1853) born in Montgomery County, Ohio; also Catherine (1854), Judah Elizabeth (1857) and Sarah (1858) born in Whitley County, Indiana. Also five sons, Jacob (August 27, 1838) who died in the Civil War, Levi (October 7, 1840) whose log cabin still stands in David Rogers Memorial Park, Lagrange, Indiana, Daniel (1843), Christian Kinsey (February 7.1848) and John Henry (March 17, 1851) all born in Montgomery County, Ohio. Henry and Julia acquired land Thorncreek Township, Whitley County, Indiana. They left their home in Montgomery County, Ohio taking all their belongings and their nine children. Julia's parents Christian W. Kinsey and Hannah (Heckman) Kinsey were living in that area since about 1840 according to the census. Christian Kinsey, Julia's father, was a deacon at the Blue River Church of the Brethern and wanted his son-in-law, Henry and his daughter Julia to come and help build a church for the farmers in the township. Perhaps Henry was waiting for his Father, Henry Senior to pass away before he ventured out into the frontier. The 1850 census validates that Henry Senior and brother Jacob were living with Henry Sylvester and Julia. Perhaps Henry Sylvester felt his father was in good hands with his brother Jacob and so they journed to the Indiana frontier. Henry Senior died in Darke County, Ohio on April 8, 1857 and his Mother, Susanna Ream preceded her husband in death on April 6, 1846. They are both buried in Landis Cemetery in Montgomery County, Ohio. Having been a dutiful son perhaps he felt free to come to Indiana and be closer to his wife's family. It is believed that they were living in Indiana by at least 1854 when their daughter Catherine was born. I believe Brother Jacob followed to Indiana after his father's death as he joined the Union Civil War fight in Indiana Regiment 44, Infantry G. The 1860 census shows all of the children were living at home except for Hannah. I can find no other sources to support that Hannah died on December 19, 1855 except for other family trees. I could find no death certificate or grave site for her but I am making the assumption that she did die in Whitley County, Indiana on that date. Son, Jacob served the Union Indiana Regiment 44 Infantry G. He died January 20, 1863 at the Regimental Hospital in Indiana. No doubt this was another great tragedy and loss. Daughter Lucinda married John "Uriah" Long in 1861, son Daniel married Sarah Elizabeth Ott on March 25, 1866, son Christian Kinsey married Louisa Jane Ott younger sister of Sarah Elizabeth Ott on May 5, 1870, son Levi married Hannah Huff on October 30 1871, daughter Mary Ann married William Brown on November 19, 1871, son John Henry married Lieucetta Cramer in 1872, daughter Judah Elizabeth married David Leonard Miller on April 11, 1873, daughter Sabann married Samuel Franklin Smith October 4, 1873, daughter Catherine married George Spann on March 7, 1878, and daughter Sarah married Charles A. Bower on September 4, 1879. Henry Sylvester Zumbrun passed away on September 25, 1883 at the age of 71 years . He is buried in Round Lake Cemetery in Thorncreek Township, Whitley County, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his daughter Hannah (1855), and a son Jacob (1863). His wife Julia (Kinsey) Zumbrun died on June 1, 1891 at 75 years of age. She is also buried at Round Lake Cemetery. She was preceded in death by her daughter Hannah (1855) at the age of 18, son Jacob (1863) at 25 years of age, daughter Lucinda (1884) at 43 years of age, and daughter Sarah (1889) at 31 years of age. "
