Henry Hart passed away in death last Saturday night, the 6th of May, after an illness of over two years. Funeral services were held at his late home in the Fourth Ward, Sunday, conducted by Rev. E. O. Cole of the M. E. church, and interment was at Hoosier cemetery. The death of Mr. Hart notes the passing of another of the pioneers of Kingman county, as he was one of the earliest settlers in the section to the west of this city, he taking up a piece of government land on the Ninnescah some five miles west of the little village of Kingman of that day, where he builded his home on the banks of the Ninnescah, and where he remained a number of years, later moving to this city. Some two years ago he received a stroke of paralysis and since then was practically helpless, being unable to walk and without the power of speech; thus becoming a pitable object to every one, especially to those who had known him in former years when he was a stout and robust man and enjoying the best of health. He had to be moved about by means of a wheeled-chair and needed the services of constant companion. Recently he suffered another stroke and death followed in a few days; certainly a most welcome relief for the afflicted man. A friend has furnished the following brief notes in reference to the deceased: Henry Hart was born in Cook county, Illinois, in 1848, and there remained until he reached adult age and was there married to Miss Jessie Bump in 1876. A year or two later he came to Kansas and was a continuous resident of Kingman county up to the time of his death and now lies buried in Kansas soil in the county of his choice. He leaves a wife and nine children to mourn on account of his taking away. The children are his son Roy of Glasgow, Montana; Mrs. Cora Wallace of Kingman; Frank of Kingman; Mrs. Nellie Payne, Kingman; Ed Hart, Clexico, California; Mrs. Hattie Bullock, Whitten Springs, Arkansas; Mrs. Edna Chapman, Garden City, Kansas, and Jesse Hart of Kingman, who, together with their mother, are left to mourn on account of his death. The Leader-Courier joins with other friends in words of sympathy for the bereaved family.
