Henry was born December 15,1907 the son of Henry Mattern and Caroline Lauinger at Selz, NO. Henry was raised and attended school at Selz, NO. On November 19,1941 he was united in marriage to Emellia Hartl at Cando, NO. Following their marriage the couple lived at Cando where he worked for Red's Auto Body Shop and later at Cando Sales and Service, until retiring in 1972. Mrs. Mattern died January 17, 1984. Henry entered the Resthaven Healthcare Center of Cando, NO in 1990 and moved to the Lake Region Lutheran Home of Devils Lake in February of 1993. He is survived by 3 daughters, Ida (Mrs. Dwight) Corner of St. Michael, NO, Delores (Mrs. Gerald) Baumgartner of Zillah, Washington, Caroline (Mrs. Dave) Thomas of Devils Lake, NO; 7 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; brother, John Mattern of Greeley, CO; sister, Martha Lemon of Newton, KS. He is preceded in death by his wife; 1 son, Robert; his parents and several brothers and sisters. Dunnigan-Dix Funeral Home of Cando, NO in charge of arrangements.
