A procession of conveyances half a mile long followed the hearse, which took the body from the schoolhouse to the Chappell burying, ground, where it was interred. The murdered man was dressed in the suit of clothes, which he wore when he was married in 1864. The coat and trousers were of black broadcloth and the vest of black satin. The goods were of excellent texture, and were free from mold or moth marks, being as good, apparently was when he wore them forty-one years ago. All of the family attended the funeral with the exception of Charles, the eldest son, who lives in Iowa, and who was unable to come. Mrs. Tomlinson the widow saw the body yesterday for the first time. She has been ill, and was scarcely able to come over from Leanna for the funeral. The body was prepared for burial at the Wilson Undertaking rooms where it had lain from the time it was brought in from the place where it was found. It was impossible to take it back to the house, and have the funeral from there, as no one was at the house to care for it, and the kitchen of the room looked like a shambles, having never been cleaned up since the murder. The casket was opened at the school-house, and the neighbors and acquain-tances of the old man took their last look at him. The face was life like, it bore no signs of agony or fear, the only blemish being that of the nose which was initiated by a cat which was in the room with the corpse from the time of the murder until Chief Yockey burst open the door. Mr. Tomlinson was 63 years old. He was born January 18, 1837. Rev. C. S. Marsolf, the U. B. minister, who held the services, gave a short biographical sketch of the dead man, and spoke feelingly of the uncertainty and instability of life. Note: obit provided by Vickie (#47851655)
