Description	:	Mr. Henry Tourte was born Aug. 22, 1860 in Kur Hessen, Germany, and died on Jan. 9, 1933, in Paton, Iowa at the age of 72 years 4 months and 17 days. He received the common school education in his native country and was confirmed in the Lutheran Church at 14 years of age. For seven years he worked at the blacksmith trade in his father's shop. Read More	Mr. Henry Tourte was born Aug. 22, 1860 in Kur Hessen, Germany, and died on Jan. 9, 1933, in Paton, Iowa at the age of 72 years 4 months and 17 days. He received the common school education in his native country and was confirmed in the Lutheran Church at 14 years of age. For seven years he worked at the blacksmith trade in his father's shop. When 21 years old, he came to this country, first settling in Missouri, and then Illinois, where he labored as a farm hand until he began to farm for himself. On Jan. 31, 1888, Mr. Tourte was united in marriage to Miss Regina Mylenbusch. This union was blessed with eleven children, four sons and seven daughters. The oldest daughter preceded her father in death. In 1889 they moved to Iowa, living in Boone County for two years, at which time they settled in Greene County. For many years, the family lived east of Paton, later south of town, and since 1926 in their present home in Paton. Mr. Tourte was converted at 23 years of age. He joined the Evangelical Church and remained a faithful member to his death. From the beginning of his Christian life, he served the church of his choice in various official capacities, such as class leader, Sunday school superintendent, Sunday school teacher, steward and trustee, holding the last named office at the time of his death. For the laast two years, Mr. Tourte suffered intensely from an incurable disease until he was relieved last Monday at 4 o'clock, when he was called home, where pain in unknown. Mr. Tourte leaves to mourn his sorrowing companion, ten children, all of whom lived in and near Paton, except Mildred, who lives in Waubay, SD: Mrs. Bertha Lehman Mrs. Emma Hocke William Tourte Mrs. Esther Wiener Mrs. Ethel Benson Herbert Tourte Albert Tourte Mrs. Mildred Wahl Leslie Tourte Miss Velma Tourte Mr. Tourte also has 18 grandchildren, two brothers: John Tourte of Brookly, NY and William Tourte of Arbuckle, CA; one sister in Germany, other relatives and many friends. Funeral service was held Thursday afternoon from the Evangelical Church, conducted by Rev. Granner, assisted by Rev. Kraft of Ackley, IA. Rev. and Mrs. Kaupp of Boxhold led in the singing. Three of Mr. Tourte's sons and three sons-in-law acted as pall bearers. Friends and relatives from Ackley; Blue Earth, MN; Ogden, Fort Dodge, Dana, Rippey, Perry, Boxholm, Jefferson, Pilot Mound, and Grand Junction were present at the service.
