Description	:	Henry Vohland was born on March 10, 1853 at New Orleans, LA. When he was a small child he moved with his parents to Peppertown, Indiana. It was here he learned the trade of blacksmithing and wheelwright. He came to Shelton, Nebraska where he worked at his profession for a number of years. On April 19, 1880 he married Ellen Oliver, daughter of Ellen Leever and James Oliver of Shelton. Read More	Henry Vohland was born on March 10, 1853 at New Orleans, LA. When he was a small child he moved with his parents to Peppertown, Indiana. It was here he learned the trade of blacksmithing and wheelwright. He came to Shelton, Nebraska where he worked at his profession for a number of years. On April 19, 1880 he married Ellen Oliver, daughter of Ellen Leever and James Oliver of Shelton. They had two children, Cora and James Vohland, but Ellen died a month after James' birth, on October 11, 1884, and was buried in the Shelton Cemetery. Henry married Elizabeth Van Wey on February 2, 1886. Shortly afterward they moved to the smaller community in Buckeye Valley north of Gibbon. Here all of the children except Adolph were born. Henry ran the blacksmith shop and Eliza, with the help of the boys, farmed. After the children were all married Henry and Eliza moved into Gibbon where Henry worked in the local blacksmith shop with August Tilgner. Later, he and his son Jess ran a shop together. He worked in the shop until he was 78 years of age. In 1928 he celebrated his 75 birthday at the Robert Vohland home north of Shelton, the entire family attended. Henry had the following children with Ellen Oliver: Cora V. – Aug 13, 1882 James V. – Sep 11, 1884 Henry had the following children with Eliza Van Wey: Adolph V. – died young Jess V. – Dec 3, 1888 Clarence V. – Jan 2, 1890 Robert V. – Jan 3, 1892 Nettie V. – May 27, 1894 Lawrence Bryan V. – Mar 27, 1897 Mary Ethel V. – Apr 27, 1899 Henry Vohland passed away in Gibbon on October 4, 1940 with burial in the Shelton cemetery. Eliza Vohland had passed away on January 4, 1938. She was born in Illinois to Burris and Lorah Jane (McAullif) Van Wey.
