Funeral services at the Congregational chapel, Tuesday, June 26th, at 10 A.M., under the order of Souhegan Grange. [The Farmers' Cabinet, 26 Jun 1877] The funeral of Henry W. Marvell, deputy sheriff and auctioneer, was so largely attended on Tuesday that the Congregational church was opened and services there held, conducted by Rev. J.H. Learned. The members of Souhegan Grange (in which organization Mr. Marvell's death was the first that has occurred,) attended in a body, and escorted by the Amherst Band, moved... Marvell, deputy sheriff and auctioneer, was so largely attended on Tuesday that the Congregational church was opened and services there held, conducted by Rev. J.H. Learned. The members of Souhegan Grange (in which organization Mr. Marvell's death was the first that has occurred,) attended in a body, and escorted by the Amherst Band, moved in the mournful procession to dirge music, and performed impressive rites at the grave. Mr. Marvell was a kind neighbor, an industrious, useful man, who will be missed in our community. He leaves a widow, two sons and a daughter. [The Farmers' Cabinet, 3 Jul 1877]
