He passed away Monday, March 4, 1985, in Melissa Memorial Hospital in Holyoke. He graduated from high school in Curtis, Nebraska and took some college work in Chicago, Illinois. Mr. Ewald was in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945. He arrived in the Southwest Pacific where he earned several stars, badges and medals. December 8, 1945, he married Hazel Smith at North Platte, Nebraska. They lived in Dickens, Nebraska, Stoneham and Holyoke while he worked for the Union Pacific and Burlington Northern Railroads. He retired in 1974. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Holyoke. His hobbies included lawn and garden work, and he liked model railroad trains. Henry was preceded in death by his parents and his three brother, Leon, Charley and James and one granddaughter, Shawn Stoermer. He is survived by his wife Hazel and twin daughters, Marcia (Mrs. Steven Cogburn) and Martha (Mrs. Emil Stoermer) and six grandchildren, all of Holyoke, and other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Thursday, March 7, at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Holyoke with Rev. Joe Stewart officiating. Interment was in Holyoke Memorial Park.
