Herbert Aiden Brian was born in Columbus Feb. 9, 1917, the son of Vivian and Elizabeth Jones Brian. He attended Columbus schools, being graduated from Columbus high school. He was graduated from the University of Nebraska, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree. He served in the R.O.T.C. from September, 1934 to June, 1938, and was commissioned as a lieutenant colonel. "Bert" also attended law school for two years, but was unable to complete his studies because of his illness. He then spent two years at the air base at Copus Christi, Tex., doing secretarial work. Upon returning to Columbus, he made his home with his aunt, Mrs. W.E. Roberts. He was a member of Grace Episcopal church, and of Lebanon Lodge No. 323, A.F. & A.M. Mr. Brian was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister, Maxine.
