Description	:	Herbert Hoy, lifetime resident of Cassoday Kansas, passed away Saturday evening February 15, 2014 at Lake Point of El Dorado Nursing Center. He was 93. Herb was born March 6, 1920 in Cassoday to Henry and Lena Hoy. He grew up in Cassoday graduating in 1937 and went to work for Boeing Aircraft Corporation in Wichita Kansas prior to enlisting in the service. He was 93. Herb was born March 6, 1920 in Cassoday to Henry and Lena Hoy. He grew up in Cassoday graduating in 1937 and went to work for Boeing Aircraft Corporation in Wichita Kansas prior to enlisting in the service. He served in the Navy for three years and was discharged in October 1945. Herb married Delores Roeder June 14, 1946 at the Methodist Parsonage in El Dorado Kansas. He worked at Vickers Refinery for 10 years and retiring at Union Tank Car after 18 years of employment in 1983. Herb enjoyed working alongside his son, Rich, whether building a pipe fence or and making improvements around the home place. His favorite past time was going to Big Band Dances with his wife. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Delores Hoy of the home; children Karen Layton-Wheat of Overland Park Kansas and Richard Hoy and his wife Debbie of Cassoday; grandchildren Shari Sova, Marc and Kimberly Huth, Kara Layton, Ande Hoy and Wes and Nichole Gibb; great-grandchildren Jared and Megan Sova, Jordan Sova, Mikayla Sova, Tyler Huth, Trevor Huth and Derrick Gibb. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Lena, two brothers John and A.J. and two nephews Clinton Hoy and Gary Roeder. Casket bearers for the service will be nephews Gary Hoy, Larry Hoy, Charles Hoy, Dennis Hoy, Wes Gibb and Marc Huth. Honorary Pall Bearers will be Chuck Hodges, Bill DeVoe, Rick Grace and Chris Locke. The funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Wednesday, February 19, at Cassoday United Methodist Church. Burial will follow the services at the Cassoday Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the VFW of El Dorado Kansas.
