Read More	Wenatchee World - Thursday, August 18, 2011 East Wenatchee, WA Herb Logsdon, 86, went to be with the Lord on August 15, 2011. He was born in Anadarko, OK, on July 5, 1925, to Harry H. "George" Logsdon and Pearl (Williams) Logsdon. At the age of six, the family moved to Hunters, WA, where he attended school and learned to fish and hunt, which he loved to do. The family moved to Entiat in 1942. Herb joined the Marine Corps in 1943, where he was a machine gunner in a dive bomber. He was shot down in the battle of Midway and, surviving that, he lost the ship he was stationed on, the USS Gambier Bay, in the battle of Leyte Gulf. Following the War, he graduated from Entiat High School in 1946. On August 11, 1949, he married Jeanine L. Strop, the love of his life for 62 years, in Chelan, WA. He joined the Wenatchee Fire Department in 1950, becoming a Lieutenant in 1953, and a Captain in 1957. In 1969, he was promoted to Assistant Chief, retiring in 1975, to run the family orchard. After retiring, he took up golfing, which he really loved to do. Herb was preceded in death by his mother and father; and sister, Katherine. He is survived by his wife, Jean, of the home; sons, Greg of East Wenatchee and Daniel (Jean) of Wenatchee; daughter, Debbie (Randy) Hunter of East Wenatchee; his brother, Jim of Peshastin; sister, Penny Brouillette of Cashmere; four grandchildren, Candice (Matt) Ruffle, Breeanna Matti, Tracy Murphy and Cameron Lorz; and 11 great-grandchildren. A Graveside Service will be held Friday, August 19, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. at Evergreen Memorial Park in East Wenatchee. Memorials may be made, in Herb's memory, to Solomon's Porch or the Salvation Army. Arrangements are by Telford's Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee.
