He died at 4:15 p.m. Friday in White County Memorial Hospital. Born July 21, 1919, in Manhattan, Kansas, he was the son of the Rev. Herbert and Elsie Bettcher Petrich. On Feb. 2, 1942, in Reynolds, he was married to Ruth Sites, who survives. A resident of Monticello for most of his life, Mr. Petrich taught at Monticello High School— later Twin Lakes — from 1947 until he retired in 1982 as guidance director. He taught biology, health and safety and physical education, and was head track coach and assistant coach for basketball and football. He also taught and was head coach for all sports at Argos High School in 1946. In retirement, he worked for several years in the office at Indiana Beach and at the Monticello Floral Co. He was a 1937 graduate of Reynolds High School, and received his bachelor's degree in 1941 and his master's in 1952, both from Purdue University. Mr. Petrich was a member of Lutheran Church of Our Savior, Monticello. He was also a member of me American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Delta Kappa educational fraternity, the John Purdue Club, and had been treasurer of the Monticello Kiwanis Club since 1965. He had also served as president of the club. He was lieutenant governor of the Arrowhead Division of Kiwanis in 1968. He served on the Indiana Vocational Technical College (Ivy Tech) State Board of Trustees. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in WWII. Also surviving is one sister, Virginia Long, Lafayette. One brother preceded him in death. Officiating at the services will be the Revs. Gus George and the Rev. Mark Peters. Burial, with military rites, will be in Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today in Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home and one hour prior to the services Monday in the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Lutheran Church of Our Savior, Monticello.
