Alexander, Sr., 92, died Wednesday at his home. He enlisted in the CCC at Rose Hill and also served in the United States Army during W.W. II. He was a graduate of V.P.I. and received a Bachelor Degree. He taught high school for 28 years in Sugar Grove, VA, Mt. Jackson, Stonewall Jackson High School, Ponape Island in the U.S. Trust Territory, Broadway High School and Culpeper High School. He was a member of Manor Memorial United Methodist Church in New Market. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, June Pafford Alexander, a son, Herbert G. Alexander, Jr., a brother and two sisters. Surviving are two daughters, Elizabeth A. Pleasants of Fredericksburg and Jane M. Dellinger of Nitro, WV, 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
