Read More	The Edgar Sun (Edgar, NE) Fri, Nov 14, 1941 - pg. 1 Herbert George Springer Herbert George Springer, son of George and Viola Springer, was born near Fi***, Nebraska, on June 11, 1883. He spent his early life on the farm and came to Clay County in 1905, where he lived with his sister, Mrs. Clarence Skinner and farmed for himself. On December 25, 1907, he was united in marriage to Miss Nola Hart of Edgar, Nebraska. To this union were born four children, one son, Alonzo, preceding him in death. In 1915 his wife, Nola, departed this life leaving him with three children, Viola, Howard and Murdith. On October 2, 1918, he was united in marriage to Mrs. Edith Sugden Stade, who is left to mourn his departure. In 1921 he left the farm for St Paul, Nebraska, where he was engaged in the oil station business. After eight months he returned to Edgar, Nebraska, and has been owner of the Edgar Oil Co. since. He departed this life November 3, 1941, at the age of 58 years, 4 months and 23 days. He leaves to mourn besides his wife, three children, Mrs. Charles K. Voorhees of Omaha, Nebraska, Howard and Murdith of Edgar, three brothers, Fred, Earl and Cecil of Hale Center, Texas; two sisters, Mrs. Clarence Skinner of Edgar and Mrs. John Whipp of Flagstaff, Arizona, five grandchildren, Janet, Roger and James Herbert Voorhees, Lonnie Springer and Kent Springer, other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held Thursday, November 6, 1941, at 2:30 p.m., at the Methodist Church with Rev. T. S. Hughes of Kingsdown, Kansas, in charge assisted by Rev. S. W. Longacre, pastor of the Edgar Methodist Church. Singers were J. M. McGhie, J. G. Walley, J. Robert Olseene, and Harold McGhie, who sang "Beautiful Isle" and "Abide With Me." Mrs. Lydia Phelps was at the piano. Pallbearers were Wm. Organ, Hans Holst, Roy Wheeland, Ernest Diekmann, Dr. T. J. Lindgren and Rollan Arnold. Honorary pallbearers were Glenn Sommerville, Guy Kinkead, Frank Kendall and E. J. Mort. The Masons were in charge of the committal services at the grace. Interment was made in the Edgar Cemetery.
