Description	:	Herbert L. Wilson was the son of Frank Elinor Hayes and Eidth Myrtle Merritt. Record show when he was 5 he went to live with his Step Grandpa John Henery Wilson and at the age of 12 he was adpoted by John Henry Wilson on Oct. 12, 1925.Ten days later his father John Henery wilson died. He recived his education in Marshalltown and was married to Wanda N. Carkhuff Oct. 24, 1933 On Apr. 8, 1944 was the date of induction in the Army. Herbert served in Ardennes Rhineland Central Europe. The medals he recived were the Eame Capaign Medal with 3 bronze stars Good conduct Medal world war 2 Victory Medal. He served One year 8 months and 13 days. Private Frist Class Herbert Wilson was in Company G 112th Infantry. He was Discarged Dec. 1945 in Camp Fannin Texas. After the army he was employed at Farm & Town Lumber Co. later Lambert's . He retired in 1975 due to ill health. At the time of his death he is survived by his wife Wanda Wilson. and a son Herbert ( Judy) Wilson Marshalltown. A brother Veron Hayes Phoenix Ariz. a sister Mrs. Mae Whitmore Marshalltown Three Grandchildern. Angela, Pam, and Herbie Wilson Marshalltown One greatGrandson Chad Lavender Marshalltown. He was preceded in death by his parents 1 sister and 2 brothers. Mr Wilson was a veteran of World War 2 and a member of the Frank Lewis Glick Post 46 and he was also a member of the Fraternal Order Of the Eagles. Flag - folding ceremonies was conducted by the Glick Post. Herbert love to fish & hunt. Herbert (Hayes) Wilson was adopted by his Step grandfather (John Henry Wilson) 12 days before his step grandfather passed away. He is a Hayes by birth His death record his last name is Wilson FATHER
