Description	:	Herbert Lee Moyer, 82, died at his residence in Tye River on Tuesday, June 20, 2006. Born in Nelson County on May 21, 1924, he was a son of the late James O. and Mamie Henry Moyer. Until his illness he was an active member of St. Stephens Baptist Church, where he served as deacon. Herbert was the founder, former owner and operator of Moyer Oil Company in Lovingston. Read More	Herbert Lee Moyer, 82, died at his residence in Tye River on Tuesday, June 20, 2006. Born in Nelson County on May 21, 1924, he was a son of the late James O. and Mamie Henry Moyer. Until his illness he was an active member of St. Stephens Baptist Church, where he served as deacon. Herbert was the founder, former owner and operator of Moyer Oil Company in Lovingston. In later years, he took great pride in reading his Bible, gardening and keeping his lawn immaculate. He is survived by his devoted wife of 20 years, Doris Bryant Moyer; three sons Herbert T. Moyer and his wife, Martha, of Waynesboro, Bobby Ray Moyer and his wife, Linda, of Afton and Ronald Moyer and his wife, Joan, of Shipman; two daughters, Carolyn M. Holbert and her husband, James, of Raphine and Debroah Moyer of Waynesboro; two stepsons, James Bryant and his wife, Debbie, and Jerry Bryant and his wife, Lisa, both of Tye River; one brother, Ralph Moyer and his wife, Audrey, of Greensboro, North Carolina; one sister, Cornelia Fitzgerald of Lovingston; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; one loving step-granddaughter, Ashlee Bryant; and two special friends Harold and Jo Martin. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 43 years and mother of his children Estelle Bryant Moyer; three brothers, six sisters and one granddaughter. A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, June 24, 2006, at St. Stephens Baptist Church with the Rev. Norman (Mickey) Ryan, the Rev. Israel (Jake) Stewart and the Rev. John P. Campbell officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 p.m. Friday, June 23, 2006, at the funeral home. The family suggest that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Hospice of the Piedmont 2200 Old Ivy Road, Charlottesville, VA 22903 or St. Stephens Baptist Church, 411 Falling Rock Drive, Amherst, VA 24521.
