Pitts, 88, of Great Bend, went to be with his heavenly Father on Feb. 23, 2007. He was born Jan. 24, 1919, at Douglass, the son of Ornan B. and Ruth Essie Davis Pitts. He married Myrtle K. Christians on March 16, 1941, in Beaver. A farmer, he had lived in Great Bend for the last 15 years, coming from the Claflin and Beaver area, where he lived for 54 years. Pitts was a member of First Church of the Nazarene in Great Bend. He has been a member of the Beaver Friends Church for 54 years. He was a Sunday School teacher, church board secretary and a part of the van ministry and the music ministry of the church. He served on various boards of the Kansas Yearly Meeting of the Friends Church for 50 years. He had been president of the Holyrood Co-op and was on the Rural Water District Board. He loved people and had a ministry visiting people in the hospital or in their homes. Most of all, he loved his family and loved his Lord. Survivors include his wife of the home, son Donald Pitts, Great Bend; daughter Jerree Ehrlich and husband Larry of Broken Arrow, Okla.; four grandchildren, Kim Sell and husband Roger of Great Bend, Tami Flaspohler and husband Kevin of Ponca City, Okla., Kara Potter and husband Jeff of Claflin, and Tonia Jordan and husband Jason of Bixby, Okla.; and nine great-grandchildren, Connor and Kendal Sell, Ryan, Jake and Luke Flaspohler, Annie and Zoe Potter, and Jaxon and Lexi Jordan. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Aubert Pitts, Carlisle Pitts, Alden Pitts and Kenneth Pitts; and five sisters, Iona Ruddell, Verna White, Ruth Fry, Ada Enger and Margaret Bowdle. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the First Church of the Nazarene in Great Bend with the Rev. Robert Castile and the Rev. Mark Pennington officiating. Interment will be in Hoisington Cemetery, Hoisington. Arrangements by Bryant Funeral Home.
