He suffered a heart attack in the late 1950's and came to live with us for a time, until he required more intense care. His occupations included day laborer, teacher at a private school, mill worker, joiner at a shipyard, marker at a coat factory, road worker, strawberry farmer. Among his avocations, he was a violin maker and wood carver. He married Olive Lermond on August 24, 1908, daughter of two relatively prosperous and esteemed families (Lermond & Morton). They successfully raised two outstanding men, Russell Lermond Morgan and Paul Winthrop Morgan who went on from the University of Maine to get a Master's degree and a Phd in Chemistry (respectively).
