He passed away at 11:15 p.m., Sept. 4, 1960, at his home in Lamoni after a long period of ill health. On Dec. 14, 1893, Herbert Teale and Mary E. Spurrier were united in marriage. Read More	h/ Mary Etta Spurrier Teale Herbert Wallace Teale, son of Eugene and Martha Teale, was born Nov. 29, 1873 on a farm located about one mile north of the present town of Lamoni. He passed away at 11:15 p.m., Sept. 4, 1960, at his home in Lamoni after a long period of ill health. On Dec. 14, 1893, Herbert Teale and Mary E. Spurrier were united in marriage. To this union were born four children: Gladys, Ralph E., H. Barton, and Charlot A. Teale. Mrs. Mary Teale passed away April 21, 1925. In April 1929, Mr. Teale married Esmah Jones of Lamoni. Herb, as he was commonly called, started in the harness business in Lamoni in 1892. For a period of 68 years until July 1960 he operated his harness and implement business, most of that time here in Lamoni. He was a good businessman--interested in doing quality work and in, giving good service he derived much pleasure from his work. Herb was interested in the progress of Lamoni and he was a long time member of the Lamoni Businessman's Club. Herb was a member of the Masonic order and the Order of Eastern Star in Lamoni. He was also a member of the Arch and Commandry. He enjoyed this fraternal work and was a faitnful member having served a number if years as secretary of Fayette Lodge No. 571 in Lamoni. Surviving are his wife Esmah, who patiently and lovingly cared for him during his last illness; the four children, Gladys, now Mrs. L.S. Hebener of Burns, Ore.; Ralph E. Teale of Omaha, Neb.; H.Barton Teale, of Kansas City, Mo.; and Charlot A., now Mrs. W.L. Nourse of Scottsdale, Ariz.; 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Also surviving is his only brother, John Teale of St. Joseph, Mo.; and a number of nieces and nephews. Herb will be missed by his loved ones and his many friends, but after having lived a good long life, death came to him as a welcome release. Masonic funeral services were conducted Wednesday by Kenneth Mitchell of Garden Grove. Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery (Lamoni, Iowa).
