Description	:	Herman A. Burghart, 81, Topeka, died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2001, at a Topeka hospice house. Mr. Burghart worked for Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. for 34 years before he retired in 1985. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He was born Aug. 15, 1920, in Topeka, the son of Alexander and Catherine Haefner Burghart. He was born Aug. 15, 1920, in Topeka, the son of Alexander and Catherine Haefner Burghart. Mr. Burghart was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church. He also was a member of Capitol Post No. 1 of the American Legion, Philip Billard Post No. 1650 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Moose Lodge No. 555 and the United Rubber Workers Union Local No. 307. He married Dorothy Bieker on Feb. 4, 1948, in Topeka. She survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Linda Hart, Aurora, Colo., and Jan Borchert, Lincoln, Neb.; a son, Steve Burghart, Newton; and six grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Burial with graveside military honors conducted by Post No. 1650 of the VFW will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Mr. Burghart will lie in state after 2 p.m. Friday at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, where rosaries will be recited by the parish at 7 p.m. and the Knights of Columbus Council No. 534 at 7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Hospice House, 200 S.W. Frazier Circle, Topeka, 66606.
