He was born in Grasonville, MD on January 26, 1926, the son of the late Charles T. and Hattie Eleanor Collier Blizzard. He was educated in Centreville, Maryland and on October 24, 1947 he married Maude Elizabeth Fogwell of Worton, Maryland. He worked as... Read More	Herman Allan Blizzard, former Kent County Sheriff, died on November 5, 2007 at Chester River Manor in Chestertown, Maryland. He was 81. He was born in Grasonville, MD on January 26, 1926, the son of the late Charles T. and Hattie Eleanor Collier Blizzard. He was educated in Centreville, Maryland and on October 24, 1947 he married Maude Elizabeth Fogwell of Worton, Maryland. They lived in Kent County where he worked on her father?s farm and later Chrysler Corporation in Newark, Delaware, sold insurance, and then took a position as a deputy sheriff with Kent County Sheriffs Department. He worked as Chief Deputy Sheriff for 15 years and served as Kent County Sheriff for 12 years retiring in 1990. Sheriff Blizzard was a member of the Chestertown Elks Lodge #2474, Worton United Methodist Church, an Honorary Member of the Fraternal Order of Police, and a member of Chester Lodge #115 AF&AM. He enjoyed hunting, reading, and gardening. His wife predeceased him on October 30, 1987. Sheriff Blizzard is survived by three children: Thomas F. Blizzard and his wife Nancy of Stafford County, VA, Joseph A. Blizzard and his wife Vickie of Worton, MD, and Debbie Ramsey of Worton, MD., four sisters: Katheryn Graham of Wilmington, DE, Edna Lewis of Stevensville, MD, Dallas Carter of Glen Burnie, MD, and Rosie Smith of Grasonville, MD.along with four grandchildren: Rebecca L. Blizzard, Lisa V. Blizzard, Tiffany Blizzard, and Nathan A. Blizzard, and two great grandchildren: Tucker A. Blizzard and Chase A. Blizzard. Masonic Services will be held on Thursday, November 8, 2007 at 8:00 PM at Fellows, Helfenbein, and Newnam Funeral Home 130 Speer Road Chestertown, MD where relatives and friends may call from 5:00PM until 8:00PM. Interment will be held privately in Chester Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #110 104 Vickers Drive Unit B Chestertown, MD 21620.
